Functional Skills Maths Level 1 Online Exam

- Book – Select a date or choose date later option via the MME site. Our exams team will then contact you with more information and guidance.

- Results – Results are released within 16 working days of your exam date. These will be emailed to you.

You book your exam through the MME website. We send you some additional revision materials and instructions. On the day of your exam an invigilator will email you a link which you simply open and then they will then talk you through the exam set up which is very straight forward.
If you have been asked to obtain a functional skills maths level 1 qualification then this exam is for you. The OpenAwards exam is universally recognised as they are one of 10 Ofqual regulated providers.
The functional skills exam results take between 5 to 16 days to come through. As soon as we know the result we will email you this ahead of issuing a certificate.
MME offers a resit service whereby we provide additional support to those learners who need it. In many cases we also reduce the cost of the resit to help people.
The online exam means you can book in at any time almost, where as paper based exams have scheduled days once every couple of months. You also have the convenience of doing it from home without the time and expense of travelling to a centre. The results are often quicker via online exams and the whole process is easier for people to manage as we can also change your exam day and time at short notice.
The exam lasts for a total of 2 hours and is split into two sections.
The pass mark can vary from test to test depending on how difficult it is, so there is no set pass mark but a score of 60% and above is a good benchmark.
The first section is non-calculator and the section section is calculator. The online exam provides you with an onscreen calculator which we encourage you to use as it stores all of your workings which you may get marks for. You can’t use a scientific calculator for the exam.
