Free 11+ Taster Workshops
Free 11 Plus taster workshops run once a week. Each session is 45 minutes long and runs online, via Zoom. Attendance is completely free. These workshops focus on 11+ Tricky Vocabulary Workouts and verbal reasoning. Take a look at some highlights below.

11+ Comprehension Courses
Our 11+ comprehension courses teach students the best 11+ comprehension exam techniques and thought processes our students have used successfully in the past. Students are given time to practise these skills on exam style comprehension texts (including fiction, non-fiction and poetry). They learn how to quickly read through any passage of text and answer different types of 11+ exam style questions. These questions cover skills such as:
- Recall
- Inference and deduction
- Word meaning
- Language techniques and imagery
- Types of words or phrases
Overall, this leaves students confident and prepared for their English exam.
11+ Writing Courses
Our 11+ writing courses help students learn to write in continuous prose in order to showcase their grasp of written English in an exam. Questions will often ask students to write a creative story or description about a given topic. Alternatively, they could be asked to write a structured letter or essay in order to demonstrate their reasoning skills. We offer courses to help improve both creative writing and persuasive writing for the 11+.
In our writing courses, we walk students through the key writing techniques examiners reward generously. Students will work through how to plan, prepare and write a high-scoring writing piece, covering skills such as;
- Understanding and answering the question
- Planning and timing
- The basics of creative/persuasive writing
- Complex creative/persuasive writing
- The different types of creative/persuasive writing
- Vocabulary expansion
- Spelling, punctuation and grammar
- Writer’s tools, literary devices and persuasive techniques
Homework and class notes are sent out after each session. All homework is marked and returned with extensive, constructive feedback for the student.

11+ Verbal Reasoning Courses
A verbal reasoning exam is something you may not have heard of before. During a verbal reasoning exercise, the depth and range of a student’s vocabulary is assessed. They are asked to use logic to solve problems involving words and letters.
Our 11+ Verbal Reasoning courses review every common 11+ verbal reasoning question type, providing students with our exam techniques and recommended approach to complete any verbal reasoning question quickly and accurately. Students also broaden and deepen their vocabulary throughout this course, going into greater detail than in our free taster sessions.
