11 Plus Exam Process for Graveney School

Entry to Graveney School in Year 7 is partially based on performance in the Wandsworth Year 6 entrance examination, which typically takes place in mid to late September of Year 6 at the school premises.

Round 1

Wandsworth Year 6 Exam

The entrance exam includes two written papers:

Non-Verbal Reasoning: Evaluates a child’s ability to recognise patterns, understand spatial relationships, and solve problems using visual information. 55 minutes total test time including introductory guidance from the invigilator and time allowed for practice questions. The test consists of four sections (three of 10 minutes each with 19 questions in each and one of 9 minutes to answer 18 questions)

Verbal Reasoning: Assesses a child’s ability to think logically and solve problems using words, letters, and numbers. 50 minutes to work through 80 questions excluding introductory guidance

There is no published pass mark, but places are offered to those with the highest scores, according to the school’s oversubscription criteria.

Admissions Criteria

Admissions Criteria

Graveney School does not operate a specific catchment area, but it considers primary feeder schools when assessing applications, with distance from the school factored into its oversubscription criteria. There are 70 places available for those who get the best results in the Wandsworth 11 plus. Applicants with an equal score will be prioritised by distance order with those applicants living nearest the school given higher priority. The remaining places are then allocated via the following criteria:

  1. Children Looked After or children who were looked after, but ceased to be so because they were adopted.
  2. Applicants not admitted under Category 1 who have a sibling attending the school at the time of application.
  3. Applicants with an acute medical or exceptional social need who in the opinion of the Governing Body, would be suitably provided for in the school.
  4. Children of staff at the school.
  5. Proximity of the applicant’s home to the school, with those living nearest being accorded the highest priority.
