11 Plus Exam Process for Ashcroft Technology Academy
Entry to Year 7 at the Ashcroft Technology Academy in Year 7 can be via two different routes, depending on what place you are applying for.
All Applicants
General Places
All applicants to Ashcroft Technology Academy will need to sit the Wandsworth Year 6 Non-Verbal Reasoning Test.
The Wandsworth Year 6 Non-Verbal Reasoning test assesses a child’s ability to recognise patterns, understand spatial relationships, and solve problems using visual information.
The test will last for a total of 55 minutes, which includes an introduction from the invigilator and time for practice questions. The test is then split into four sections:
- Section 1 – 10 minutes, 19 questions
- Section 2 – 10 minutes, 19 questions
- Section 3 – 10 minutes, 19 questions
- Section 4 – 9 minutes, 18 questions
Your child’s score on the Wandsworth Year 6 Non-Verbal Reasoning Test will not determine whether or not they are accepted into Ashcroft Technology Academy, it will just determine what band they will be placed in.
There are no pre-determined scores for each band, as it depends on the number and ability of this year’s applicants. As a guide, the below banding was used in previous years:

Ashcroft Technology Academy offers 24 places to children who show a high aptitude for technology.
Children applying for one of these selective places will need to sit an additional technological aptitude test, as well as the Wandsworth Year 6 Non-Verbal Reasoning test.
The technological aptitude test will be held at Ashcroft Technology Academy and will consist of 40 multiple-choice questions.
Offers for these specialist places will be made to the children who achieve the highest scores on the technological aptitude test, in descending order.

Ashcroft Technology Academy will first allocate places for children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and the 24 specialist places. After this, they will apply the below oversubscription criteria to each band. The school will ensure each band has equal numbers.

How to Apply to Ashcroft Technology Academy
To apply for a Year 7 place at Ashcroft Technology Academy, families must complete both the test registration process and the local authority application.
- Register for the Wandsworth Year 6 Test: If you are wanting to apply to Ashcroft Technology Academy, you must register your child for the Wandsworth Year 6 Test. This has to be completed on the Wandsworth Council website before Thursday 4th September 2025.
- Register for the Technological Aptitude Test: If you would like your child to be considered for a specialist place at Ashcroft Technology Academy, you will need to register them for the technological aptitude test separately. This needs to be done via this form, which must be returned to the school via email or post before Monday 29th September 2025.
- Submit the Common Application Form (CAF): This form must be completed through your local authority, listing Ashcroft Technology Academy as one of your preferred schools. The deadline for submitting the CAF is 31st October 2025.
Registration for the Wandsworth Year 6 Test and submission of the CAF are required for your child to be considered for a place at Ashcroft Technology Academy. Registration for the technological aptitude test is optional and only necessary if you would like your child to be considered for a specialist place.
